Pro Display has recently made major developments with PA-LC technology and it is now available as a film material that can be simply applied to existing glass. The film works in the same way as the LCD Glass, but offers greater flexibility in the market, especially where it is difficult or costly to replace the existing glass. Other benefits include applications on curved glass and custom shaped LCD panels. By applying a mirror reflective film to the glass surface first, the LCD Film can also be used as a front projection screen. This revolutionary new film will transform the glazing industry, by turning any standard glass panel into a privacy window. 

This special PET plastic film consists of a liquid crystal polymer which changes its visual appearance when an electrical current is activated. A simple ON - OFF mode transforms the film from being clear (transparent) to opaque (translucent). When the film is in its opaque or frosted state images can be rear projected onto the glass to create a high definition display screen (UXGA resolution). LCD film has many applications, but is primarily used for privacy, security and visual display.

LCD film has been designed primarily for internal applications, if it is used on external window with direct sunlight it must be protected against UV. The film can be produced to custom sizes (largest standard panel 98cm x height 300cm). Multiple panels can be positioned together to create a virtually seamless display.

The film is produced in 2 sheets sizes:
· 98cm x 300cm (standard sheet size)
· 120cm x 300cm (custom order)

The above sheets can be cut down to any custom size and the bus-bar applied to electrify the film panel. Please note that the electrifying strip is generally on the short side.

Application
The LCD film is applied to existing glass panels using an optically clear UV glue

Pro Display will release a new version of the LCD Film which has a glue layer (PSA) already applied to the film. Simply remove the protective liner and apply using water/detergent and a squeegee in the same way as applying other film materials.

LCD Curtain
We have recently launched our new LCD Curtain which is available as a film material or finished laminate glass. Here the film material has been divided up into 50mm strips that can be individually electrified and switched ON / OFF. This means that individual sections of the film or glass can be switched clear leaving the remaining area frosted for privacy. The LCD curtain has is own electronic control system with hand held RF remote control switch unit.

The LCD Film is generally sold by the linear metre and is available cut to size with the bus-bar (electrifying strip) applied. It is also available to our OEM Partners in sheet form (98cm x 300cm) for them to cut to size and apply the bus-bar themselves.
